Magical Mutant Photoshoot with Mutanteyephoto

What would you do if you came home to find a pool full of Mutants?

I recently had the pleasure of doing a completely random creative shoot with up and coming photographers Kevin Su and Caitlin Vendetti. These two masters of the lens have teamed up and created Mutanteyephoto. They can be found shooting everything from weddings to electronic music festivals to creative shoots. These crazy cats are usually found in Whistler but you will see them everywhere from Squamish to California this summer.
Not only have they mutated into the next big thing for photography, they have a new bloghttp://mutanteyephoto.wordpress.com/ and a new radio show airing on Sunday nights from 8 - 10pm (B.C time) on http://wmn.fm/ (the whistler media network). The show is a Sunday night pre-party event with musical guests, a ton of positive vibes, and freestyles from the one and only kdawg (Caitlin Vendetti). So for anyone who likes fun times, and great music be sure to tune in to get your WHOMP on!

With a team of great mutant friends, fabulous lighting, and a whole lot of creativity Mutanteyephoto and Spunky Beauty hit this photo shoot out of the park! The photo shoot took place in my pool, which is covered and unmaintained. It created the perfect setting for this grimey mutant adventure. It began with no makeup at all, but as the night went on Mutanteyephoto had a hit of inspiration. They felt that for the last segment of the photo shoot Vancouver local DJ Benny Freebound Mo (http://soundcloud.com/freebound), needed a tribal meets astro boy look. Using all the creative vibes around me and my flowing imagination I came up with a hand painted tribal mask. I used RCMA Rubber mask grease paints, and Mehron Silver metallic powder. Instead of running the Mehron powder through my airbrush I mixed it with the Mehron mixing liquid and painted/ stippled it on by hand. You can find the photo below and others from this shoot on the Mutanteyephoto Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mutanteyephoto .

Be sure to keep your Mutant eye on these amazing photographers!

Chasing Mood

Spunky Beauty had an amazing opportunity to participate in a local Vancouver web series "Chasing Mood". Brendon Bertolini and Curtis Lum star in a hilarious real life battle of making it big in the film industry. With their daily battles and quirky personalities, Chasing Mood has made a hit in Vancouver. I have had the pleasure to join this amazing crew and work with some very talented people!

After all this hectic shooting, I had the chance to ask the Director, Leslie Birch a few questions about this project.

SB: So for starters, congrats on Season 2! The whole production was ton of fun; I had such a great time. As fun as it looked, what were some of your biggest challenges while filming?

I got to say it was the time constraints. We were working really long days and squeezing what would usually take 2 days to film into 1 day. The great thing was team was amazing. Nobody complained and it felt like one giant party.

SB: What was one of your most memorable moments on set?

We were shooting a fashion show scene with Dope.Girl.Fresh. Half of us had just finished shooting in another location and we were getting to set later than our scheduled time. I was expecting everyone to be angry but instead, music was playing and people were dancing! We popped some wine bottles and made it official.

SB: That was an amazing day! I had a blast at that fashion show.

SB: So after all the editing and post production, if you could what's the one thing you could change?

I got to say that because everything is a learning experience there is nothing I would change about the project. What I would change is the release date being so close to the post production process. Tight schedules can be stressful.

SB: Have you started thinking about Season 3?

Season 3 is already written and I have the say it's unbelievable! We've brought on a few new writers and they're going to be re-working the scripts so I'm excited for the response. We have some really exciting cameos in the works but nothing is fully confirmed yet.

SB: Sounds awesome! I can’t wait to check it out!

SB: You mentioned that you were originally set on journalism, how did you get into
directing?

Doing documentaries. When you're interviewing people who have never been filmed before, you find yourself directing. I think it all pretty much comes down to making people feel comfortable.

SB: Do you have any other film projects in the making?

I'm working on a short right now and it's coming along incredible.

A huge shout out and thanks to Leslie and the crew! You guys made this set the most memorable, challenging and exciting!

Feather Hair Extensions!

Put some spunk back into your hair!

Thats right, this years newest trend is feather hair extensions!

A little trip across the bridge and you find yourself in one of the Lower Mainlands elite shopping districts. Here you will find Kiss and Makeup, a haven for all women who enjoy the finer things in beauty.

Please check out the video!

A little info on this very strange, yet so to-be addicting trend.

The feathers being used are indeed real rooster feathers which come in an array of colors. Today I had the choice between yellow, teal, purple and white. $22 gets you three feathers of your choice applied as one flock and $36 gets you two! The process if super easy, painless, and fast! And when I say fast...I really mean no more than 2 mins!

The process involves a silicone lined ring that is slipped through your hair and feathers and then clamped with pliers. The rings come out easily by just clamping in the opposite direction. Feathers are reusable, washable and best of all...heat friendly! Best of all, this can be worn by anyone.
Like most hair extensions these would last approximately from 6 to 8 weeks.

From Denver Colorado where this trend originally started, now you can add some pizazz to your hair here in Vancouver! Be sure to check the wonderful ladies out at Kiss and Makeup who are more than happy to get you hooked on this.

Anal Bleaching?!

That’s right folks, anal bleaching is today’s hot topic.

I will start off by saying that is not the bleaching of the hair…but of the skin.

I have been researching this service for quite some time out of curiosity, and while I was at the Taboo Sex Show I noticed a booth selling some products for skin lightening. They were selling products for the body, underarms and of (dare I say it) sensitive areas. I started chatting with one of the girls (Ashley) about how it works and how to go about using it.

So Ashley, what is anal bleaching?

Well, it is not a bleach but a skin lightening solution. Which means it lightens the darkened areas on your body, whether they be the sensitive unmentionables (male or female) or age spots or burns. It contains no harsh chemicals, Hydroquinone or Kojic acid. It is also all natural with no side effects or irritation.

How would you prepare yourself for such a service?

There is no preparation needed, although we do recommend that the area be clean and dry, whether you like to wax first or not is up to you. As the product safe and gentle enough to use right after waxing.

How long does it take?

All in all, it is about 5 minute service.

How often would I have to come in for this service?

We recommend that you come in 3-6 times until you reach the desired color. However if you would like to speed up this process we do have a take home product that is quick and easy to use in the comfort of your own home. You will need to do the at home treatment twice a day for 2-6 weeks. After that it will only be maintenance (similar to teeth whitening).

You mentioned that you can use it on your body, can you use the same product?

You can, but we have products designed specifically for the body and underarms. The body lotion is very moisturizing and smells delicious and it comes in a 180ml tube. The underarm product comes in a roll-on form and contains a nice deodorant.

I hope that answers some of you questions!

Ashley works at the WAX Hair Removal Bar. The service costs $50 per treatment. The gel for the sensitive areas is $75, body milk for $85 and the underarm roll-on is $75.

WAX Hair Removal Bar is one of the distributors for South Beach Skin Solutions in BC www.waxbar.ca

I started browsing on the company website at www.southbeachskinsolutions.com and noticed they also have breast firming and stretch mark repair lotions. Be prepared for a review on those products!

Also, we will have a video demonstrating these products uploaded very soon!

~ February Favorites~

~In the long, boring winter months we at Spunky Beauty spend far more time playing with our makeup. Here's two products I'm not leaving the house without!!~

Lise Watier ~ Metamorphix
Need some cheering up from the dreary feeling of winter? Try some vibrant, long lasting eyeliner! This product is genius, its a liquid transformer that turns any eyeshadow into eyeliner! Just one drop in the lid of your shadow will do and dip an eyeliner brush in. Mix in your loose or pressed shadow. Then, just like magic your favorite shadow is now a funky, long lasting eyeliner. This little 15ml bottle will last you ages, and it retails for the awesome price of only $14 cad.

~My Mascara of the month~

Lycra Lash Extender By Rimmel London:
Since I can't seem to stop buying myself new mascara every 3-4 weeks, I dont usually go for the high end brands. Truthfully if you curl your lashes anyways you can get away with using any brand. Lately I've been on a Rimmel Mascara kick, I just got this one a few days ago and its my favorite so far. Curl your lashes and apply one coat of this to even the most stubborn lashes, and they stay sexy all day. It contains Lycra.
(Spandex, Lycra or elastane, is a synthetic fibre known for its exceptional elasticity. It is stronger and more durable than rubber)
This mascara really is great, it's smudge proof, smear proof and flake proof! Just be gentle when u take it off!It comes in black and brown. And seriously, one coat is all you need or you end up with clumps!
For $7.99 Cad, you can afford to give it a try!
Put a little spandex on those lashes!
